Trey ...

Trey is such a photogenic dog.  In going through photos, I noticed that most of the time Trey is in the foreground and Wendy in the rear -- usually with one paw daintily poised in the air.

Trey is a total goofball !

Oh.  Did I say "ball" ?

Can you see the ball in the photo below ?  Hint - it's not in front of him.

"I have the ball and you-ooo don't.
Trey can be a good boy.

But he'd rather be flying along fetching his ball.

He's smart and kind, and as he gets older he's is far less of a buffoon than he used to be.  ;-)

I adore him, and am so grateful he's in my life, coz if he wasn't, I never would have moved to Nova Scotia.   Pit bull "type" dogs are banned in Ontario. When Kait moved home from England and brought puppy-Trey with her, we quickly learned that we needed to escape.

So we moved to Nova Scotia.

Thank you Trey.

I love you.

  1. I've done many things for a dog, but never moved because of one. He must indeed be special.

  2. Les, I'd just retired and I suspect was secretly scared that life was about to get too routine and dull.

Moving to Nova Scotia sure took me out of my comfort-zone. But I am so glad I'm here. It's been three years now and even though my family is in Ontario I'd never move back. Besides, I can't -- we're banned. ;-)

  4. Great post showing Trey's personality. The mud-covered photo is awesome and I especially like the one of him peeking over a ledge with his ball by his side.

    1. Karma, I had so many mud-covered photos to choose from too. He loves being up higher than me and then nudging the ball over edges or down slopes for ME to fetch and throw back.

    1. Bonnie, there would be hell to pay if he found out I went out without him ! He is a very high-energy dog and MUST get lots of exercise -- or else.

And of course we have the treadmill for days when we don't or can't get out ...

  6. Is Trey a pit bull? Oh my goodness, I fell in love with my friend Jan's son's wife's pit bull once and announced it was the most wonderful dog on the planet. When asking what kind it was and the answer arriving "pit bull" all my preconceived prejudices dropped away. Wow.

    1. When I lived in Ontario, I never would have guessed that I would both love and own a pit-bull type dog.

As they say in Nova Scotia: "Blame the deed -- not the breed".

  7. I have fallen in love with Trey also. He's so handsome and funny. He makes me laugh always. He is so very focussed in getting the ball/stick/tree trunk/flipper/glove/pants, or whatever he's carrying on a walk.

He's one of my best boyfriends. I'm hooked!

    Love and barks,
    Lynne xxxx

  8. Luckily, here in South Africa, Staffies are well-loved dogs and we don't have a Dangerous Dog Act . . . yet.

I don't see the point of banning a whole breed of dogs. Any dog can be dangerous. Granted big dogs - or dogs with big teeth - can do more damage, but little dogs can also injure or kill. I read a story on one of the UK news sites, about a Jack Russell terrier that had killed a young baby - its owner's child.

    1. I was about to respond citing Italy's banning/limiting of 92 dog breeds, but went to Mr. Google to check the facts and what did I find ...

They have eliminated the breed bans and the designation of certain breeds as dangerous.

Instead the onus is now put on the owner to ensure their dog is a good canine citizen. Attacks and bites will be dealt with on an individual basis.

      This is great news !

    2. That is great news. In South Africa, the breeders of Staffies, undertake to only breed with good-natured dogs so they don't create a "bad" or aggressive bloodline. They, as well as pet stores and animal welfare organizations are also careful about who they sell or give dogs to. From that point on, it's the owner's responsibility to make sure that they are in control of their dogs.

    3. Happily, few pet stores in Nova Scotia sell dogs and cats any more... unless they are "rescue dogs" being sold on behalf of an animal rescue group.

The saying here is, "Blame the deed -- not the breed".
