A Wendy walk.

The other day I took Wendy for a lovely walk to the off-leash section of Shubie Park.  Trey is not crazy about off-leash parks.  Other dogs want to run up and sniff his bum, and that sort of intimacy without a cup of coffee or a chat first, is outside his comfort zone.  Wendy, is a free and liberal bum-sniffer, both as the sniffee and the sniffer.

It was warm, and the leaves were unfurling in the magical lime greens of spring.

Wendy never ran too far ahead: always coming back to check in with me.

A dog had generously provided this feeder
for the squirrels he loves to chase.

Note at bottom says: "Stay dirty my friend"

We watched the ducks.

And Wendy went for a swim.

Since I had not brought a ball, Wendy took the liberty of generously finding a stick for me.  She dwells under the erroneous impression that I love throwing sticks.

The dreaded departure sign.

Sometimes it's nice to have some one-on-one time with one of your "kids".

  3. I started laughing so hard about the bum sniffer and sniffee comments in your first paragraph--especially the part about the comfort zone that I probably didn't give the rest of your walk proper attention. You are sooooo funny!

    1. and because you weren't paying proper attention, you tripped on that root in the path. Lucky I grabbed your arm before you did a "face plant".

  4. You know, I think your opening describing the "bum sniffing comfort level" would likely apply to my dogs too - Teddy always needs to be number one dog on the totem pole so I don't know how well he'd do in such a social situation. Daphne, on the other hand, I feel would be much more comfortable with the whole idea. What a nice place to be able to take your dogs without a leash!

    1. Halifax is a very enlightened city. Lots of off-leash dog parks and no B.S.L. (Breed Specific Legislation).

  6. I love the duck photo, too! Wendy is one lucky girl to have such a lovely wooded dog park where she can spend quality time with you. But did she ever get to sniff any bums? :)
