Cabin Fever ...

I have "cabin fever" !

In nice weather I spend more time outside than in. In nice weather I don't fall asleep in my big poofy chair after reading ten pages of a book.   In nice weather I don't fall asleep in my big poofy chair for three hours after reading ten pages of my book, after getting a good solid ten hours sleep.

In nice weather I do not Troll the internet reacting immaturely to comments that raise my ire.

Cabin fever has changed me.

In winters past I have still gotten out and gone for lovely drives over to the Bay of Fundy,

or down to Peggy's Cove,

or even just for a walk along the shore near me.

But this winter has been (and sadly, still is) long and bitter and icy and the roads not conducive to road trips.

My only outings have been to Shubie park.  But even walking there has sometimes been treacherous.

In order to be able to walk on ice I bought some "grippers" that slip onto the bottom of my boots.

They do help with the walking but I still am unnerved when walking on ice.

All in all I've pretty much had it with winter !

    1. And the high ... the frikkin' high for tomorrow is minus 20 or something stoooopid like that !

BTW I guess I should have explained that my teeth really aren't that bad. I've been doing a bit of "background work" acting and played a patient in the "Lizzie Borden Chronicles" that was filmed here in January.

  2. Yeah, there's nothing worse than ice. Grippers are good but you still need to do the Old Lady Penguin Walk just to be cautious.

    2. I don't know, but I can only hope to see signs of it soon. However I do remember it snowing in May......

    3. What a horrid thought eh, Bonnie ? I always treasure those first times when I find Crocus or Snow Drops blooming in sunny sheltered areas in early spring ...

  4. Golly moses. I do not know how foks in the north tolerate so much cold. I feel for you. I really do. The here is abovefreezing for most of the winter. For the pasrt two days. Theh temp has been around 37F or so but there has been a steady light drizzle with fog that lasted all day. I have never been able to tolerate the cold. I get very weak if I'm out for more than about 20 minutes or so.

Here's hoping that you have some decent weather so that you can walk about and get more of those great photos that I enjoy.

    1. I"think" you're in Texas where it gets unbearably hot in summer ? I'd like to live somewhere in between. I moved to the wrong coast. Our West coast is wet and mild and seldom gets snow. Lawns are growing there and flowers are blooming. We'll have to wait another two-three months for that. We had our first decent day in ages today. High of 6 C (40F ?) and it was nice. I went for a slushy walk at the dog park... lol. I'm ready for Spring !

  5. I feel for you, Sybil. February was the coldest month ever recorded here in Connecticut. And we haven't seen the ground since January 27. It's been snowing all day here... I don't know if I should say "it's snowing again" or "it's still snowing." I have never seen a winter where the snow doesn't melt between storms... This is what I imagine the weather is like in Michigan, not here.

Hang in there, my friend! This too will pass. Love your pictures! Brrrr...

    1. I don't think you've had an easy winter either Barbara. Aren't we going to be giddy when that first spring-like day arrives !

  6. I've heard so much about your country's medical care system. Too bad it does not include dentistry.

    1. I agree, it SHOULD include Dentistry. In my case that was make up for some wacky background acting work I had done. lol

  7. Oh that picture of you! I get scared every time I see it. Hey, we almost had spring this past week. Warm temps, melting snow. That awful feeling of cabin fever started to ease. Although we needed grippers for our boots on the driveway because it was such an ice rink. Heading to Florida next week so will wish you a Happy Spring now!

    1. We also had one nice day last week when it got up to plus 10. (I think that's close to 50 F). Sadly there is a "blizzard" predicted for tomorrow !

Have a wonderful time in Florida.

    2. I'm glad you translated. We had 62 one day last week (16?). But it was below freezing this morning again. Keep warm and safe and Cabin-feverless in your blizzard, should it come. Thanks for the well-wishes.

  8. Too funny! But also not so funny as it is so true! Sigh. We had a bit of melting this past week - my grill became unburied enough to cook a couple dinners outside! - so there are at least signs of hope that spring will indeed arrive.
