Christmas Day at Peggy's Cove ...

Christmas Day in Nova Scotia dawned sunny and unseasonably mild.  What better way to spend the day than with a road trip to Peggy's Cove !

Nearby there are plenty of lay-bys where you can park and hike to the shore.

Once there, look what we saw; a Seal out basking on a rock !

After an hour of  walking we popped back in the car and drove 2 minutes down the road to Peggy's Cove.

Apparently I wasn't the only one who decided to visit this Canadian icon on Christmas Day.

Guess who !

Look at that.  Shorts and bare feet on Christmas Day !   I told you it was crazy mild.

The most famous fishing cove in Canada.

Hope you had a nice Christmas and that the Happiest of New Years awaits.

  1. I've been to Peggy's Cove several times over the years and always enjoy it. I remember the very first time, I was so gobsmacked by those huge bare rocks. I'd never seen any like them before.

    1. Those glacial rocks are amazing. They have such a dramatic, spartan beauty.

  2. My husband has (or had) a cookbook called "Recipes from Peggy's Cove." Will see if I can find it... Love the lighthouse and the fishing cove - you live near so many beautiful views... It was unseasonably mild on Christmas day here, too. Once, glancing out the window I caught sight of two girls in shorts doing cartwheels in their front yard!

    1. Sometimes I do envy the climate that Rosie lives in ... Nova Scotia is such a small province and it is "almost" an island. So very much to see. Peggy's Cove IS lovely but there are so many other places in the province that go "unsung". Pity.

  5. Great pictures, and a fun way to spend Christmas Day with your dogs :-) We saw people in T-shirts & shorts & bare feet on Hirtle's Beach on Christmas - crazy warm weather for sure! I meant to check out the Polar Bear Dive on New Year's Day, but I forgot. Maybe next year :-) Happy 2016!
