The first day of summer.

After our late, wet, chilly, windy spring I am delighted to report that the first day of summer really was a lovely day.

I present the following photos from today's walk at Shubie Park, as evidence.

Iris grow at the edge of  a boggy stream.

I love the shapes of the roots as they snake over each other.

This Lady Slipper reminds me of a space alien
or an enormous exotic bug.

Lush greens of summer.

Summer -- a time for friends to play in the water.

Green, green, green.  Can you smell the fresh green of grass and trees ?

Welcome summer.  What took you so long ?

  1. Looks like you had a beautiful first day of summer, Sybil. Really like the look of that ladyslipper. We haven't seen summer at all this week. Just cold & rain. Sigh...send some down south, will you?

  2. Wish I could Kathy. Hang in there. I'm sure summer will be there soon.
