Just about everyone in Canada has heard of Peggy's Cove. Peggy's Cove and its lighthouse are widely recognized, symbols of Canada.
But within just a few kilometres of Peggy's Cove, are several incredible, scenic trails that few people know about.
Yesterday, Lynne, her friend Susan from England, and I, spent a gorgeous afternoon exploring one of those trails.
Polly's Cove Trail meanders down to the ocean across a desolate landscape dotted with glacial "erratics", rocks left behind by the retreating glaciers.
The day was mild with a lovely off-shore breeze.
Wendy was awesome at finding the trail when we lost sight of it on the large expanse of rock. She's also very earnest about ensuring we all keep together.
At this point Lynne and Susan got pretty far ahead of me as I lingered to make a video of what I was looking at.
I can't wait to explore the other trails in the area.
Rugged and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, it IS.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we couldn't have discovered this when we were there. I think Peggy's cove is much overrated!

Considering how many places in Nova Scotia just as beautiful as Peggy's Cove I can't understand why it is so damn famous. There are so many other marvellous places of equal and greater beauty to be explored.
DeleteWhen you come back for a visit, we'll go exploring.
Is this the Lynne that blogs? Is she living in Nova Scotia full time now? Looks like you guys had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteKathy, It is the very same Lynne of "Five Good Things" fame. She moved to Nova Scotia FOR GOOD two weeks ago. Oh it was a marvellous day!
DeleteOh how lovely! :)
DeleteRosie, do not be ashamed. Few folk HERE know of the trails near Peggy's Cove. If you're ever back this way, I'd love to meet you, and if you like, show you Polly's Cove.
