Today I went to the March on Washington; in Halifax.
I'm afraid that THAT MAN has brought out the worst in me. I am not proud of my flaming responses to his followers comments on FaceBook, so I decided to make a sign with a message that was not mean or insulting -- though some real zingers came to mind -- like "Republicans for Voldemort". But for once I took the high road.
Called a "march" it was really a rally as we didn't march anywhere but simply collected together on the Parade Ground behind City Hall. Though the planners had only put up the notice of the event two weeks ago, interest in attending swelled from 100 to 2,000 very quickly.
"We are the Grand daughters of the Witches you weren't able to burn" |
The signs were most inventive.
A few were rude.
A few were crass.
Most were thoughtful.
Don't bother looking; I didn't post the crass ones.
I had to think about this one for a sec. |
And hey, look at this, I snagged a pussy hat !
That sign you're carrying looked very familiar...
ReplyDeleteThe turnout around the world and in Washington DC really trumped the Trump-fest, by at least 4 to 1. Really made a good impression.
Like Brian Mulroney, you can always tell what The Donald's really thinking by the pattern of the lies. He exaggerated the numbers, so you know he knows he didn't do well on Friday.
Anyway, we had a bus from Peterborough go to Toronto for the big rally there. I'll get a paper tomorrow to find out how many attended there. Cheers!
My nephew and his partner went to the march in Toronto and posted pics from the event. It's looked enormous. I wonder why there was no march in Peterpatch ?
DeleteLove the pussy hat and the whiskers :-) Awesome to see so many people out in Halifax and around the world showing that orange dictator that if he thinks he's going to mess around with people's human rights, he has another thing coming.
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to be a rough 4 years for him though I seriously doubt he'll last that long.
Delete"I didn't come out of the closet for this shit"! Great sign!!
ReplyDeleteI know. I think that was my favourite too.
DeleteThanks Debra. One of my favourites I've seen is "We shall over comb"
ReplyDeleteLove the pussyhat - and the whiskers! It looks like an impressive turnout, and the signs are amazing. Cheeky, thought-provoking, inspiring... Lovely to see you active on the blog again, Sybil!
