Lynne turned the tables on me today, and took me to explore a new beach I'd never been to. Cleveland Beach is in Queensland, along Margaret's Bay Road on the southern shore.
It was a lovely spot. The beach curved around to a point, and doubled-back through a grove of trees.
The trees on the point were draped in old man's beard, that waved in the chilly wind.
After passing the grove, we came to a lovely little beach, covered in the softest sand. Even though the sand was soft, and sheltered from the on-shore winds, and the dogs were hot from their run, Trey's next move made no sense.
He waded chest deep into the frigid Atlantic Ocean, wearing his warm, pink coat, and lay down !
I think even think Wendy was shocked.
That is really curious.
ReplyDeleteIn the summer he does it all the time -- but what the heck was he thinking ? And he must have lain there for a full minute.
ReplyDeletePerhaps he is desperate for spring like the rest of us and just could not wait any longer.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty much spot on. He love the water !
DeleteMaybe he was too hot with his coat on after running around?
ReplyDeleteLove the grey skies there! Far too bright and sunny here.
It was a fairly cold day ... below freezing. If you love grey skies you should move here. It's grey more than sunny here. You're the first person I've heard complain about it being "Far too bright and sunny" ! :-)
DeleteLOL Well, I'm genetically programmed to like grey skies and snow. My whole family comes from northern Europe.
DeleteI moved to Canada from gloomy England when I was five. Lived the next 55 years in sunny, cold Ontario. But somehow that damp, gloom and fog must be in my genes too coz I love it here and would never move back to Ontario.
DeleteBrrr! When I was a kid, we had a horse who, if given the chance, would lie down and roll in any body of water, a mud hole or a stream. We had to be vigilant in warning unsuspecting riders about the potential for an unwanted bath.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a horse who would do this in any body of water, mud hole or stream, saddled or not, with or without a rider. It was always a shocking wake-up!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a scary prospect. But amusing too.
DeleteBrrrr! Trey is either brave or crazy, lol! That pink coat must have felt rather yucky when he came out too!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Karma. I whipped off his coat as soon as we got back to the car and towelled him dry.
DeleteAnother lovely beach walk. I think you have all your readers cold just imagining that plunge into the frigid waters! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteYou'd think it would be Wendy, the lab-cross who'd be in the water and not the Staffie-cross. Trey is weird that way.
DeleteVery interesting. I love the second photo presenting stone beach.
ReplyDeleteSartenada, Thank you. Many of our beaches are stone. We do have some nice sand ones too.
DeleteMy gosh I can't imagine how cold that water must've been. Do you carry towels in your car to dry the dogs?
ReplyDeleteLovely to see another beautiful beach but where are all the people?
Rosie, the car is piled with blankets and towels coz I know Trey's idiotic tendencies ...
DeleteOnly the hardy go to the beach in the winter. You can count on a good on-shore breeze, making it colder still. The Atlantic Ocean itself, is cold even in summer. You will find people on the sandy beaches in summer, but we are almost an island surrounded by beaches of one kind and another, with a population of less than a million. Lots of beaches and not many people.
