Nearby there are plenty of lay-bys where you can park and hike to the shore.
Once there, look what we saw; a Seal out basking on a rock !
After an hour of walking we popped back in the car and drove 2 minutes down the road to Peggy's Cove.
Apparently I wasn't the only one who decided to visit this Canadian icon on Christmas Day.
Guess who ! |
Look at that. Shorts and bare feet on Christmas Day ! I told you it was crazy mild.
The most famous fishing cove in Canada. |

I've been to Peggy's Cove several times over the years and always enjoy it. I remember the very first time, I was so gobsmacked by those huge bare rocks. I'd never seen any like them before.
ReplyDeleteThose glacial rocks are amazing. They have such a dramatic, spartan beauty.
DeleteMy husband has (or had) a cookbook called "Recipes from Peggy's Cove." Will see if I can find it... Love the lighthouse and the fishing cove - you live near so many beautiful views... It was unseasonably mild on Christmas day here, too. Once, glancing out the window I caught sight of two girls in shorts doing cartwheels in their front yard!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do envy the climate that Rosie lives in ... Nova Scotia is such a small province and it is "almost" an island. So very much to see. Peggy's Cove IS lovely but there are so many other places in the province that go "unsung". Pity.
DeleteHappy new year to you as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Les. Same back at ya !
DeleteMy comments do not seem to reach you, I do not know why. So let me wish you again a Wonderful New Year. Thank you for all your great pictures , I particularly enjoyed the walk at Peggy's Cove and its landscape.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that my site is being such a pill when it comes to commenting. Wish I knew how to make it behave ! Happy New Year to you my friend !
DeleteGreat pictures, and a fun way to spend Christmas Day with your dogs :-) We saw people in T-shirts & shorts & bare feet on Hirtle's Beach on Christmas - crazy warm weather for sure! I meant to check out the Polar Bear Dive on New Year's Day, but I forgot. Maybe next year :-) Happy 2016!
ReplyDeleteWould you DO the Polar Bear Dive ? I've never checked it out. Remind me next year and I'd love to head there with ya !
